Neither Pink Nor Pale - Sketching Life

| Sep. 24th, 2007 10:04 pm pen poised
I've still been drawing, but kind of slacked off about taking the pictures and uploading them. Here's one of the pictures I drew today. I'm posting in honor of Elizabeth Perry's one thousandth picture in her sketch journal, woolgatherings (link in my links section). When I heard her on the Saturday Light Brigade in June I was inspired to start sketching again myself.

| Aug. 26th, 2007 03:58 pm starting a blogspot account with email updates OK folks, I'm trying something new (and exciting!) Because there are a few people interested in this blog who are not on livejournal, I created a new blog on blogger, http://neitherpinknorpale.blogspot.com, and I've set it up so that you can SUBSCRIBE to the blog, and when I update, you will be sent a copy of the update right to your email box! That way, you don't have to remember to keep checking, and forgetting the web address and what not. So....please go there and sign up. Thank you so much! xoxoxo | |

| Aug. 26th, 2007 01:04 pm And now, the sketches I stopped sketching a bit, but started again recently. I've added journaling to the mix (a la the book The Creative License, by Danny Gregory, which I finally got from the library, after requesting it ages ago.)

Ella was cutting paper this morning, and I joined her! Fun! So when I did my sketch of our cluttered little table, Ella and I decided to glue pieces of the cut paper around it, since in reality the paper was all over the floor around the table anyway.

Here is Dave simultaneously holding Molly up (getting her to sleep) and reading the seventh Harry Potter for the third time. | |

| Aug. 25th, 2007 08:50 am Hair Beading
As best as I could figure out, this is how I beaded Ella's hair. She's been begging to get it done (for her birthday, coming up soon!) She actually sat still enough for me to figure it out by trial and error and do it (there are more in her hair than shown in the picture.)
It was not easy figuring out how to get the beads on there! And once I figured out a way, it was still not easy. But fun. I did some in mine and Molly's hair as well.
Here's another view:

PS...Comments will be unscreened this entry on.

| Jul. 26th, 2007 06:48 pm Legs
Sitting on the floor with the girls...thinking if I keep them company maybe they'll let me sketch, but I was wrong. As soon as E realized what I was doing (meaning, as soon as Arthur was over) she proceded to climb on me, beat at my sketchbook with her toys and all other manner of distraction until I had to stop.

| Jul. 24th, 2007 10:00 am I've been such a slacker...I did do a couple sketches yesterday...I'll have to upload them to the computer and put them up. I'll also put up some pics of the Harry Potter party from the library, the librarians were dressed as Hogwarts professors and looked really good. | |

| Jul. 14th, 2007 10:11 am teapot
I was sketching this tiny teapot out on the porch, while E, D and M were inside listening, singing, and dancing to the "Don't worry be happy" video on youtube (Bobby McFerrin, with Robin Williams and Mr. Noodle from Sesame Street, I guess before he was Mr. Noodle, though, but the same comedian/character.)
How do I know when I'm "done" with a sketch? When I hear, "Mommy, mommy, I need you, where are you?! Mommy! Mommy!...."
The words in the upper left part of the sketch are the lyrics I was hearing: "Here's a little song I wrote, you might want to sing it note for note: don't worry, be happy."

| Jul. 13th, 2007 10:24 am calendula
I missed a few days sketching. I did a couple this morning. I wanted to put up the other one I did, but our camera/computer connection isn't working and I can't upload it. I uploaded this sketch of calendulas in a glass jar earlier.
The other picture is of the back of our neighbor Charlie's house, with his sneakers up on the porch. ( there's more about Charlie, but it's under this cut, because it's very depressing and you may not want to read it. )
